To protect customer privacy, we cannot describe this work in detail. Nevertheless, it should be clear that Buzz-o-sonic can be used to identify poor binders used in porous ceramics

In this example, we measured the shear moduli of some low density ceramics (acoustic tile). These parts were made using experimental binders that bonded the ceramic grain during firing. Some of these binders were found to produce lower shear moduli than might be expected from their bulk densities (figure 1). These parts were later found to fail quality control testing.
