Screenshot of QuasiModo (Quality Sonic Modulus Output)
The flexural resonant frequency of 3138 Hz is clearly shown. QuasiModo is designed to run on the Windows Mobile platform and is suitable for most PocketPCs and some mobile (cell) phones. The screen shot to the right was taken on a HP iPAQ rx4240 running under Windows Mobile 5.0. QuasiModo currently measures only the resonant frequencies of an impulse excited solid, similar to Buzz-o-sonic; but does not measure damping properties. This feature may be added at a future date. NOTE: QuasiModo is only available to registered users of Buzz-o-sonic |

Screenshot (70% scale) of the Elastic Constants spreadsheet (Microsoft Excel workbook). The Young's modulus, shear modulus, and Poisson's ratio of an elastic solid can be calculated from it's resonant frequencies as measured by Buzz-o-sonic, and also from it's mass and dimensions. The spreadsheet makes it very easy to calculate the elastic constants of simple shapes (rectangular bars, cylinders, discs, grinding wheels, tubes, and plates ). English, metric, and SI units are supported. Note that Buzz-o-sonic automatically inserts the measured frequency into the selected cell. |

Screenshot (70% scale) of the Lab Kit module (left) and Buzz-o-sonic (right). A sample is selected from the Lab Kit module and a control value is loaded automatically into Buzz-o-sonic (shown blue). The student then tries to match the control data. Samples are pre-tested and supplied with the Lab Kit. |
