Example high temperature system. Systems are custom designed around customer requirements. Samples can be tested to up to 1800 °C and in most environments (air, N2, Ar...). A special high temperature module (above) is used to monitor and log the data during a run. A log file is automatically created in case a run is aborted unexpectedly (power cut, burned out element etc.). The sample can be tested automatically at given time intervals or when the temperature is constant for a given time and tolerance.
The above High Tempertaure system is currently being used by the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF). This furnace is capable of measuring thin rectangular bars (~600-900µm) to 1000°C in air or flowing N2. A paper was published based on the results obtained with this system - some of the results are shown below1.
